Morning Light

Morning Light through Trees

Morning Light

By Jeanne Gowen Dennis

This morning, sunlight angled through the glass block window of our bathroom and painted a watercolor masterpiece on the beige wall. More beautiful than an artist’s painting, it reminded me of what an amazing thing it was when God said, “Let there be light.”

With those words—only two words in Hebrew—He created not only light, but also color, clarity, shadow, form, and subtlety.

Light anticipated vision, something most of us take for granted. It opened the door for us to recognize beauty, to see reflections of God Himself through His creation.

For now we see only dim reflections of His light. If we belong to Jesus Christ, we look forward to the New Jerusalem, where created light will no longer be necessary:

“And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it.

In the daytime (for there will be no night there) its gates will never be closed; and they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it; and nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” (Revelation 21:23–27 NASB)

Is your name written in the Lamb’s book of life? When your time comes to meet our Creator, will you already know Him? Will He recognize you as one of His own? He’s calling you to Himself. Have you answered His call?

“For God, who said, ‘Light shall shine out of darkness,’ is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ” (2 Cor 4:6 NASB).

If you need to know more about how to have an intimate relationship with the One who called light into being, please contact us at heritageoftruth.com. We’d be happy to introduce Him to you.

May the light of Christ shine on you.
