Guiding Youth to Faith

with Pastor Caleb Jones

Guiding youth to faith requires helping them see biblical characters as real people. Young people also need to see faith lived out in those around them. This is part 2 of an interview Jeanne Dennis had with Pastor Caleb Jones.

  1. Great interview! Especially the part where Caleb said he prays for discernment that the spirit in him recognizes when the Holy Spirit is speaking to the heart of someone else. I think we often are just so thrilled a child wants to accept Christ that sometimes we’re not discerning if it’s the Holy Spirit at work. And, yes, sometimes that does result in someone [with the maturity of] a “one-year-old Christian, 21 years in a row.”
Jeanne, you said you wished there was a better word than “story” when referring to the contents of the Bible. An older gentleman once told me rather than saying Bible “stories,” he calls them Bible Truths, especially when speaking to children. I agree, we need to set the Bible Truths apart from every other kind of story. Loved this interview. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Thank you, Sally, for your comment and your insights. I’m so glad you enjoyed the interview. I appreciate what you said about calling Bible stories Bible truths, because that’s what they are: truths, history, and facts.
